If you ask me this question, I would take the side of Germany for various reasons. Although there are not so many differences between these two countries, as a tourist, you need to keep in mind many things that I know you do for sure.
But why am I taking the side of Germany? I’m explaining all the reasons below:
Table of Contents
ToggleEnglish Friendliness
Germany’s locals are very welcoming to tourists. They like to welcome tourists and can do it very easily because most Germans speak English very well.
I have been living here in Germany for more than four years, and still, I sometimes need help with English because my German fluency is not good enough, and I can easily get by with my English skills. Nobody bothers me because they speak really good English.
But you might not be here to stay as long as I am. If you are a tourist, then you surely can travel anywhere in Germany without having any knowledge of German.
On the other hand, France is a country where you cannot do the aforementioned thing that I just said about Germany. The French are a less English-friendly nation. They can speak English, of course, but not like Germans. A few French locals can speak English with you, but maybe you won’t feel comfortable with the other people who don’t know English.
Attractive Tourism Spots
France
In this area, France would be better than Germany. Of course, they have many attractive spots that are famous worldwide, like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum (Musée du Louvre), the Palace of Versailles (Château de Versailles), Mont Saint-Michel, and many other spots.
Eiffel Tower

Tourists from all over the world are eager to visit these iconic places at least once in their lifetime. For instance, who hasn’t heard of the Eiffel Tower? In today’s world, it’s unlikely you’ll find anyone unfamiliar with it. The Eiffel Tower’s popularity is immense, not only among travelers but also among the general public.
The Louvre Museum (Musée du Louvre)

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Mona Lisa, the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci. And I bet you know exactly where this renowned artwork is located. Yes, it’s housed in the Louvre Museum. But that’s just one of the many prestigious collections of fine art you’ll find in this museum.
Palace of Versailles (Château de Versailles)

The Palace of Versailles is the former royal residence of King Louis XIV, located 19 kilometers west of Paris. Louis XIV succeeded his predecessor, expanding the château into the earliest stages of a palace that underwent numerous additions and modifications between 1661 and 1715.
Germany
Berlin (The Capital City)

Berlin is the most popular destination for tourists worldwide. You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who isn’t fascinated by Berlin. It’s a fantastic city with an excellent transportation system and vibrant nightlife. If you enjoy electronic dance music, Berlin won’t disappoint. To be honest, though, the city feels more like a collection of smaller cities stitched together, each with its own unique vibe. That being said, when people talk about how great Berlin is, they often mention Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain.
Aachen Cathedral

It’s situated near the Belgium and Netherlands border. It’s one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe.
Zugspitze

This is the highest mountain in Germany. Situated near the border area of Austria and the Bavarian Alps.
Nuremberg Christmas Market
When discussing Christmas markets, German Christmas markets naturally come to mind first, as they are world-famous. Among all the Christmas markets, the Nuremberg Christmas Market stands out as the best.

So, among these four examples of tourist destinations in both countries, we can conclude that France is ahead of Germany in terms of tourist spots, as they have some attractions that are popular among every travel enthusiast. However, even though Germany may lag behind in this category, choosing Germany over France won’t disappoint. I know there are many lesser-known tourist destinations in Germany compared to the iconic Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum in France, but still, millions of tourists come and enjoy their travel time with these amazing attractions.
Paris vs Berlin
When people from outside of Europe, or let’s say those who have never visited Germany or France, think about traveling, they might fantasize about visiting Paris and Berlin. But if you ask them to choose one between these two cities, there’s a chance that the majority will opt for Paris over Berlin.
Why would they do that? Do you know the reason? I have the answer. Paris has been considered an overrated city since ancient times. It has historically been more famous than other European cities. However, honestly, it doesn’t offer anything better than Berlin. You won’t find a better living experience in Paris compared to Berlin. The cost of local transport tickets is much higher in Paris than in Berlin, and the transport connections are also not as good.
